Agathe Toman’s world is mostly black and white, sometimes she flirts with gold. Her dreamlike drawings and paintings are made of biro pen and acrylic. She spreads her imagination on paper, canvas, skateboards, surfboards and walls.
She works relentlessly paying attention to each detail. She is spreading her feelings and emotions with each stroke, whether abstract or figurative, in hopes to leave no one indifferent.
Although there is always a specific meaning and pattern in her work, she does not offer many explanations, she prefers leaving the viewers free to interpret the works on their own .
“It’s about feelings, the ones that change your life and yourself – positively or negatively. Those feelings that affect the rest of your existence, the events of the most extreme manner that occur in your life. Each of my illustrations or canvasses represent one thing that changed my life in a way.” From Huck Magazine, April 2016.
As far as she can remember, Agathe drew and painted constantly.
After watching on television John Galliano’s fashion show for Dior at age nine, she decided Fashion coud be the perfect outlet for her creativity. She was obviously just a child however at seventeen years old, she applied and was accepted at the prestigious french parisian fashion school “l’Ecole de la chambre syndicale de la couture parisienne”. After graduating she worked for luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Yohji Yamamoto where she learned the in and out of the craft and the business part of it.
Young enough to explore, she decided to move to Biarritz and get back to her first love drawing and painting as a full time career however she never cease to love collaborations and as a result has been collaborating with Vans and other artists she felt a strong connections with.

I created this project of 58 drawings (59) for the contemporary drawing fair DDessin Paris, March 2018.
Personal retrospective of two years of feelings embodied in 58 drawings of moons. The moon has become like a metaphor of myself those past years, more or less out of shape, but still a moon.
58 is the sum of two lunar cycles. The number 59 is the « Passage » between those cycles, which is obviously not a moon.
